The Glam Rocks perform at Graham and Gina’s 40th Anniversary party at Cricklade House Hotel

“One word…AWESOME!!!” – Graham and Gina Miller

Let’s journey back to September 2015, remember that? It was probably a bit warmer then. Well September is when Graham found The Glam Rocks and decided to get in touch to see if we were available to perform for him and his lovely wife Gina for their 40th wedding anniversary next year. It sounded fabulous, and we said yes!

I met with Graham and Gina in November to run through the plans, timings and songs ideas for the party. They told me that they wanted us to be a total surprise for their guests.  We’d set up behind a curtain and wow their guests in a big reveal following their meal. We knew then, it was going to be brilliant. This was all to take place at the Cricklade House on the edge of the Cotswolds. We’d performed their last year, with our other outfit ‘The Zoots‘, so we were looking forward to returning.

We arrived at Cricklade House at 4pm to set up and load in our equipment. We met with Graham, Gina and their two sons AJ and Dan who were all looking forward to the evenings acitivites. Here are some shots of us getting ready.

The room was decked out beautifully and looked amazing. You may have spotted the was a 1970’s theme to the party.

The programme on the tables was entitled ‘WELCOME TO 1976’

The cake was totally out of this world and one of the best cakes we’ve seen.

Set up and soundcheck went really smoothly. We were looking forward to playing some songs we don’t normally get to play!

After set up, we went to the bar to get something to eat. Graham and Gina kindly arranged for us to have some food for the evening, so we tucked into some fish ‘n’ chips and pasta; all of which were simply delicious and just what we needed before an energetic show. After dinner, we headed to our dressing room and began the transformation to THE GLAM ROCKS.

Ben rocked the David Bowie make up from the Aladdin Sane album cover.

Dan dressed as ‘The Demon’ aka Gene Simmons from Kiss.

Harriet prepared everyones make up and did a fantastic job. Simon was Eric Carr “The Fox”, Harriet was “Space Ace” Frehley and I was the “Starchild”.

We got ourselves ready behind the huge curtain and prepared ourselves for our performance. The tables were full of guests at this point but you’ll just have to use your imagination that for now.

The curtain was pulled back and revealed The Glam Rocks to a stunned the unsuspecting crowd. We kicked off the party with ‘Ballroom Blitz‘ by Sweet. We mixed in some T.Rex, David Bowie and Pink Floyd. We had a short break and headed back on stage set 2. Graham and Gina wanted to have a mix of music so to finish, we rocked out some modern day classics like ‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘Blurred Lines‘. I particularly enjoyed playing ‘Funky Music‘, and ‘Walk This Way‘ especially with the Flying V guitar.

We finished the set with the all the guests surrounding Graham and Gina for the final dance of the night.

The night went so quickly, before we knew it, it was over. We had some photos taken after the show. Everyone looked on and it was a fantastic way to end a fabulous evening.

Thank you so much to Graham and Gina for choosing The Glam Rocks to be their band for their anniversary. We had such a great time performing for such a wonderful couple and their friends and family. Many thanks to Ian Gardner for some of the photos. Thank you to everyone at Cricklade House for making us feel very welcome and for being very hospitable.

“Hi Jamie and Harriet

One word…AWESOME!!!
We had the best time and the 60 plus people who attended all agreed that you guys absolutely made the evening. The initial impact of the band in full make up  completely blew them away which was exactly the effect we wanted, thank you.
As you know I have played in lots of bands over the years and I was so impressed with the musicianship of all of the guys and the way that you did not stop, filling the dance floor from the very start till the very end, mixing 50s 60s 70s through to current stuff, you even threw in some club tunes and absolutely pulled it off with real style.

Well done guys we could not have been happier please keep in touch we will definitely want to use you again

Best wishes

Gina and Graham Miller”
